While a slew of Fiat 500s were last spotted on an Italian beach hitting the water and heading to America at least a trio of them will be headed to the beaches of California

The sands of Huntington Beach

One of the catchiest early commercials for Chrysler's Fiat brand (aside from the lust-inducing Abarth "Seduction" commercial starring Catrinel Menghia) saw a bevy of Cinquecentos hitting the beaches of Italy and making their way to the New World.

At least three of them, plus a special one-off that was created for last year's SEMA Show, will be headed to California's Huntington Beach this coming weekend.

Vans US Open of Surfing

In a press release issued earlier today, Fiat announced that it would be teaming up with Vans US Open of Surfing that will be held July 20th through 28th. As an event sponsor, the automaker will be celebrating the recent launch in Cali of the new all-electric Fiat 500e.

"The Vans US Open of Surfing is one of the largest professional surfing competition and action sports festival in the world, hosting over 400 world-class athletes in surf and skate," said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand North America. "This is a great opportunity for us to be part of an environment that reinforces the fun and energy that characterize both the FIAT brand and the Vans US Open of Surfing."

Also on hand will be the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio as well as the new Fiat 500L and 500L Trekking models.

But wait, there's more!

As befits this sun and wave-soaked venue, surfing fans will also get the chance to check out a one-of-a-kind special Fiat 500c "Beach Cruiser" that was created by Chrysler's Mopar brand for the 2012 SEMA Show.

In addition to being able to ogle the Italian iron, attendees will also get the chance to receive a bunch of Fiat swag including Wayfarer sunglasses, sunscreen, t-shirts and other FIAT-branded items. Fiat will also be giving away an Italian phrase book that features surfing and ocean terms.

Last but not least and speaking of ogling, Jones Soda-sponsored professional surfer Brianna Cope will not only be at the event and showcasing the Fiat 500e, but will also be signing autographs for fans.
